Welcome! I’m Lauren, a Peace Corps Volunteer in Rwanda. I created this blog originally to document my study abroad experience in France, but now I use it to share my experiences while working in Rwanda.
About Peace Corps:
Peace Corps was created in 1961 by John F. Kennedy. Peace Corps works with countries around the world to spread peace and development. Peace Corps’s mission is three-part:
1) To help the people of interested countries in meeting their need for trained men and women.
2) To help promote a better understanding of Americans on the part of the people served
3) To help promote a better understanding of other peoples on the part of Americans.
Peace Corps currently operates in 76 countries word wide and has worked in 139 countries total. Over 210,000 Americans have served since 1961, and there are 8,073 Volunteers currently serving. Volunteers work in the fields of Health, Education, Community Economic Development, Environment, Youth in Development, and Agriculture.
